Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will:

  • Own all the design center’s thermal management and acoustic test activities
  • Understand the design center’s priorities and directions to strategically prioritize and schedule activities within the thermal group
  • Represent the design center globally within the company and on various forums
  • Perform advanced thermal simulations of power conversion systems using industry standard software such as Flotherm
  • Conduct thermal and acoustic testing, possibly in conjunction with design team staff, to analyse problems, validate solutions and support customer requests
  • Direct multiple design teams on thermal and acoustic matters
  • Develop, improve and implement best practices including correlation studies to improve the group’s thermal modelling ability
  • Monitor developments in technology and propose new solutions in anticipation of future design requirements
  • Conduct or support research activities to understand and establish the viability of new technologies
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of the thermal and acoustic labs and equipment
  • Mentor other thermal engineers and conduct thermal training

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 12 years’ relevant thermal management experience within the electronics industry
  • Expert in the principals of heat transfer and numerical simulation
  • Highly competent in the use of thermal simulation software, such as Flotherm (preferred) or a similar industry standard package
  • Considerable experience employing thermal simulation software to solve real world projects in an electronic systems environment
  • Experience conducting thermal tests would be advantageous
  • Supervisory skills and the ability to provide technical training to others
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Eager to learn new skills and improve capabilities
  • Thorough and attentive to detail
  • Able to work with others and communicate technical issues
  • Willing to work evenings and/or weekends when required
  • Good English communication skills
  • Knowledgeable in MS Office Applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Dayshift
