The position is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and regulatory compliance of all fleet and logistics operations. It safeguards personnel, vehicles, cargo, and company assets by implementing safety programs, conducting inspections and audits, managing emergency response activities, and promoting a culture of safety across operations. The role oversees risk assessments, driver evaluations, incident investigations, and compliance monitoring to support safe, secure, and efficient transportation operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will:
- Implement and monitor fleet safety and security programs across all logistics and transportation operations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and government regulations related to transportation safety and security.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and develop preventive measures to minimize operational hazards and incidents.
- Lead emergency response efforts during transit accidents, security incidents, and terminal emergencies.
- Conduct investigations of accidents, near misses, and safety incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Perform routine inspections of fleet units, personal protective equipment (PPE), safety devices, and specialized equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Conduct safety audits and compliance assessments to verify adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor, track, and manage the renewal of safety certifications, permits, and regulatory documents.
- Develop and facilitate safety training programs, toolbox meetings, and awareness initiatives for drivers and operational personnel.
- Conduct technical driving assessments and evaluations for new and existing drivers, including heavy vehicle operations.
- Assist in the screening and evaluation of logistics personnel, including background verification and safety competency assessments.
- Maintain safety records, incident reports, inspection findings, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with operations, fleet management, and external agencies on safety, security, and compliance matters.
- Recommend process improvements and corrective actions to strengthen fleet safety, operational security, and risk management practices.
- Support crisis management activities and business continuity efforts during emergencies or critical incidents.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- You must have a bachelor's degree or completion of a 4–5-year college program.
- You must have a Basic Occupational Safety and Health Course (BOSHC) certification or qualification as Safety Officer 2 (SO2) or Safety Officer 3 (SO3).
- You must have at least 3–5 years of experience in trucking operations, preferably within the petroleum industry.
- You must have at least 2 years of direct experience as a Safety Officer supporting trucking or fleet operations.
- You must have a valid driver's license and be capable of operating both automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
- You must have experience conducting driving assessments for heavy vehicles such as 10-wheel trucks and tractor heads.
- You must have strong knowledge of transportation safety regulations, security standards, and compliance requirements.
- You must have expertise in HAZMAT operations, emergency preparedness, incident response, and risk management.
- You must have experience conducting investigations, inspections, audits, and safety assessments.
- You must be proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms.
- You must have strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- You must have excellent communication, training, and stakeholder management abilities.
- You must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of responding effectively in emergency situations.
- You must be willing to travel and support operations across multiple locations as required.
Work Schedule: Monday to Saturday (8 am – 5 pm)
