Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing legal issues and projects including the development and implementation of strategies and stakeholder engagement plans to advance and protect organizational interests and objectives.
  • Developing and overseeing a proactive and comprehensive regulatory compliance framework to ensure compliance and advancement of organizational interests.
  • Engaging with relevant internal and external stakeholders to protect and advance organizational interests, including legal and regulatory advocacies, audits.
  • Developing and maintaining linkages with various government agencies such as but not limited to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Energy, Department of Finance, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Tourism, Philippine Reclamation Agency, and Philippine Ports Authority to support operations and ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory matters.
  • Managing trade and industry relationships, including representations in industry associations to promote and advance organizational interests and policies.
  • Cultivating, strengthening, and leveraging relationships with key leaders, including business and law leaders, to advance the legal team’s objectives, ensure strategic alignment, and support organizational interests.
  • Providing advice and legal support on a broad range of business activities and commercial matters and transactions, including contract negotiations and review; risk identification, legal exposure, and developing mitigation strategies to advance and protect organizational interests.
  • Selecting, instructing, and managing outside counsel in compliance with established Outside Counsel Guidelines and processes.
  • Performing such other legal support work as may be assigned by the Chief Corporate Counsel.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from an accredited law school.
  • Passed the Philippine Bar Examination and licensed to practice law.
  • Licensed to practice law in the Philippines
  • Minimum of 7 years of legal practice
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence in high stakes environments
  • Strong experience in litigation, disputes, major transactions, and commercial deals
  • Experience working with government agencies and familiarity with regulatory processes
  • Proven ability to provide broad legal counsel across multiple practice areas
  • Solid business acumen and the ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory issues
  • Background in corporate legal work, law firm practice, and/or government legal roles
  • Experience in highly regulated industries; exposure to the energy sector is a plus
